Sightline Design Studio wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control, magnification or other assistive technology. We design homes for the way people actually live, and the same thinking applies here.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we review the site against that standard as we add to it. We know we may not get everything right on every page, and we fix problems as we find them or as they are reported.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to main content” link appears on the first press of the Tab key, and the item you are on always has a visible focus outline.
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can move around them, and buttons and links are labeled by what they do.
- Images have text descriptions. Our sample plan drawings include written details (bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage and footprint), and we are glad to describe any plan over the phone.
- Forms have visible labels, clear required-field markers and error messages that are read aloud by assistive technology.
- Text and background colors meet the recommended contrast ratios, and text can be resized up to 200 percent without losing content.
- Animation is minimal and is turned off automatically when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The accessibility button at the bottom left of every page lets you make text larger, switch to high contrast, underline links, add reading spacing and stop animation. Your choices are saved on your device.
- The “Talk to a person” button at the bottom right of every page gives you a direct phone number, text and email, so you never have to rely on a form.
Known limitations
- Plan sheets are offered as images and PDF drawings. The drawings themselves cannot be fully described by a screen reader. If you need the information in another format, contact us and we will provide it.
- Map directions and PDF downloads open in third-party services whose accessibility we do not control.
